Hi All
Back again ---- I have a Headlight dimmer switch in good condition but it needs cleaning so I don't have any problems down the track is there something I can wash it in to restore it clean it up so it will work for another 56 years without pulling it apart some sort of mild acid maybe

Yes certainly don't wash it or soak it in anything. A small wire or brass brush is good for cleaning small pieces like these.
