Here is another interesting article about another manufacturer of FE FC Holden models......Streamlux. It seems they sold the moulds to Fun-Ho.....very interesting reading.

Here's the link:
http://www.toyzine.com/magazine/articles/streamlux.htm
Enjoy.

Alex

G'day Alex

I must admit that I hadn't heard of Streamlux, but I did a quick search and found this one for sale on ebay (for those interested).

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3536908341&category=223

Also, one older model I do have is a Tom Thumb FE Holden - unmade, mint, still in the box.  Do you know what they are worth these days?

Cheers, Tim.

Hey Tim.
The article I linked to above talks about the Tom Thumb, but calls it a Streamlux model, it's the same car....
Quote:
"Streamlux also produced one large model of the Holden FE sedan, released by GMH in July 1956. The Streamlux model, 112mm long, was made in 1957 in about 1:36 scale, but for whatever reason only a small quantity was produced at the time. It represented the real thing tolerably well, although the headlights were too large and prominent. These were re-manufactured in 1977 from the original dies and marketed by Pier van Netten's Model Cars of the World in kit form using original boxes. The kits make up into models, which are reasonably attractive and compare well with other contemporary models. It is likely that more were completed by collectors than were left in kit form.

This particular model had no known subsequent connection with Fun HO!, although the Fun HO! museum in New Zealand today has two examples one of which is fitted with white Fun HO! plastic wheels. "

I read somewhere years ago in another article, that Holden did not like the final shape of the FE model and pulled their official permission to produce the model. This left the manufacturer with a bunch of printed boxes and no model cars. Pier Van Netten scored these original boxes and the dies in the 70's and made up enough to fill the boxes.
I also have one of these unmade, though the box is now falling apart.
Regards
Alex

Much appreciated Alex,
I did find the article pretty interesting...  I knew I had the older Tom Thumb box and understand now why I had never seen any original "Streamlux" boxes  Smiley  I can only assume mine is a '77 not a '57 model...

(You always hold out for another FC model out there).
Cheers, Tim.
