I know I'm speaking for a few others with this but I have been looking at build pages and this conversion has fragmented info. Is there a good thread already written about this rather than repeating? Pls post a link. I don't mind starting a thread on it for discussion with pics but don't wanna reinvent the wheel.

You need to keep the emission controls up to the era of the engine swap you are doing I believe...



I made my own bracket so that the tank sit on top rather than being slung from underneath.

Yeah that looks very secure. Thanks for posting. I just know there's a fair few ppl who have just started or are looking for a tank so better to have a thread that's current. My engine is a 1967 so even if I don't have to I like the idea of using a cannister. I have something a bit different in mind with the configuration but I don't want to be influenced at this stage cos I just got the tank. I'm at head banging stage.

I did the same as JB. A concern I have is the seam in my commodore tank split after a while and I eventually replaced the tank itself. With the pressure holding downwards, along with the weight of a fully loaded tank I think you need a cushion between the tank itself and the holding frame. My original tank was cleaned and painted and then pressure tested so I am confident it was in good condition before I installed.
It is amazing how good a fit the commodore tank is in the FC with the 50mm box frame.

Thanks Wayne. I was toying with an xb tank but they will become rare. A neat little tank for sure. What I was thinking of doing is somehow making a similar thing to you guys with the drop in frame but I would like to devise a similar one that can be a bolt in on an original car. So if I wanted to put a bigger tank in the fc stocky, then it's just a matter of welding the floor of the boot back in back to original. But takes a bit more thinking from my already overloaded pee brain.

I'm using a VS tank and it has rubber strips on top to cushion it and stop vibration static etc. no room left between the leaves for exhaust either.

Deano don't mess around with all those extra lines either. Earlier commos had one 5/8 breather line off the neck to the tank and one to the charcoal. That's it. Simple.

Here's mine with VS neck. I'll throw on a braided black sleeve to make it look nice

Yep. Yeah the canister is just a vapour catcher. I found an old mag with a filler where I'm thinking of doing mine similar. But I want Harley type not feature like this. Being an fe it's not busy with chrome.
Who's is this?

These are in my mid 80's mags that I got at 9 yrs.

The top car is driving down a steep hill. I was gunna recess a top filler thing. I don't like the idea of getting squashed by someone and bending over all the time.......cos I'm tall. Plus if it ever turns to a track car with good flux capacitation, then easier to fill. Then I can have a wireless lock lol. I should lay the steering out like Xbox so the future generation know how to drive it.

I was originally told I didn't have to run the cannister so I deleted the vapour line, every time I ran the car I found the tank had pressure.

When I was told the right thing, that I had to run the cannister, the pressure problem went away; the cannister is also connected to the manifold so that tank fumes get drawn into the intake manifold via vacuum this is an anti pollution measure and must be retained "if it was fitted to the donor car" Dean before you comment.

If you are using the tank and have a pressure issue it is a way to solve it dont just vent it to atmosphere could be a disaster.

Yeah. I wouldn't do that cos gets up to 48 degrees here lol.I learned a lot of the reasons for this and that at trade school. But that was many yrs ago..
