And this complete head in Nsw. But sometimes it's worth talking to them to see if they have other stuff.

I did check some places and no luck sorry. Have you tried these guys who specialise in grey motor era cars. They will know if there are any.

Thanks for the clue Deano, I called Old Oldens but they only had used rocker shafts. I will keep searching for a new one - there has to be one somewhere - just a matter of wrinkling it out. Cheers, Frazer

Yeah I reckon. Some of the Facebook groups have wanted sections in large cities. Might be worth a try.

Malcom Church makes them.  As good as brand new if not better but they're not cheap I think it's $600 a set.

If I can't get a new rocker shaft I will look at turning the existing ones (which aren't too bad) through 90 deg. to the unworn area. Frazer

I'm a bit surprised you can't get new ones. Are these an item that wear out a lot or only on high km motors? Does anyone know.

They do wear and it is hard to find a shaft without some evidence of abrasion. Typically it doesn't effect the engine very much though, so most people don't bother replacing them. Even very worn shafts will still run ok.

I wouldn't have thought it would matter much, but I'll will be interested to see how much wear the taxi shafts have. Thanks Ken.
