I have had to resort to using "The Nasco Broomstick" to keep the boot open due to a broken boot spring. I would like to get a pair of springs. If anybody can help PM me please. Is there an identical substitute that is used in other aussie vehicles here or overseas vehicles. Does anybody make new ones.

(Shameless plug ) I appreciate both you guys are after springs, but I do have stock of the adjustable boot pins at the moment. These make it dead simple to fit springs without needing the special tool shown in the Workshop Manual, and allow adjustment to suit a worn spring. $54/pr posted. http://forum.fefcholden.club/index.php/topic,10609.0.html

Thanks Pete and Ken. Ken I'll wait and see if Pete finds the springs if not I'll contact you. RET I have those adjustable posts on the FC. They are excellent

Mark, are yours for an FE or an FC? FE are different to FC and if you want to run the FC springs (wider) on an FE then you would also have to change the boot lid hinges.

Unfortunately no FE boot springs. These are a lot harder to find than FC ones.

OK Ken have you got a set of FC hinges and springs that you would be willing to part with?

I have a LH FC boot hinge and I could make an FE one that I have into an FC one. Maybe someone has a RH hinge they could part with. If not I can do the whole lot - 2 boot hinges and 2 boot springs for $40 plus postage.
Regards. Ken

Thy are identical apart from the bracket that holds the spring. Because the FC spring is wider, the arm on the bracket that holds the spring is a little longer. Also the hole where the bracket slides over the bolt is larger on FC.

For whatever it's worth I modified an FC spring to fit in my FE by grinding out a slot on one side where the outer edge loops back on itself. With that removed, the larger spring sits quite comfortably on the narrower 'shelf'.
