G'day Trevor,

I used that post as a guide to fitting my door rubbers and it was a huge help.  No mention in there of the door belts / weather belts installation tho.  Will ring Rares later today and see if they have a dummies guide to fitting them.

Cheers,
Graeme

It doesn't seem to matter which way I try or what tools I use, I cannot get these effing door belts to fit.

I was wondering has anyone tried glueing them in?Huh?

It might pay to post a picture of the belts you are using, there a a few variations and some one might be able to guide you from the type you have.

Graeme, if the clips themselves just won't push through the hole then you could try a pair of long nose pliers. Gently squeeze the clip together as you are pushing the door belt into place. You may need a helper..

G'day Ken,

Have tried most things to get them to fit but no luck so far.  Clearly I am doing something wrong.....

Anyway, here is a pic of the door belts - the one on the left is a Rare Spares belt and the other is from Betta Auto Rubber:

Is there any other type of door belt clip?Huh

maybe check the hole hasnt got any paint or anything in it (like the old clip) and come up from underneath with a large flat blat screw driver and gently rotate the blade so it pushes it into the hole making sure you do not crimp the stainless or tear the belt?
I remeber mine were extremely tight i think i used a piece of flat bar from underneath and a shifter off the flat bar to rotate it into the hole..

Is the clip on the belt from Betta Auto just a fraction larger, too large for the hole without cleaning & maybe adding a little lube?

Hi Graeme,
Have seen this tool on Ebay for a while and thought it might be handy.
I have no experience using it or even knowing if it would work?

G'day Stewy,

Yep, I got one of them and while it is more suited to the EH style door belt clips, it is certainly useful.

I used a large flat screw driver in between two pieces of 3mm MDF. Twist the screwdriver and the belts popped in.
Check the holes are clear and the metal around them is bent.

When I replaced mine with the rare spares ones, I couldn't push the clips in until i closed up the clips slightly using pliers. Seem to remember the first 2 clips broke, luckily I was able to reuse clips from the original door belt rubbers.
They pushed in easily using a large flat blade.
