I'm having trouble with my steering column blinker assembly. It fell apart and one of the contacts is broken. I believe that the blinker assembly is from an LC Torana but I am not positive. I have posted a couple of pics and hopefully somebody might be able to verify that it actually is the LC Torana Unit?

While I intend to order a new unit, in the short term I need to manufacture a duplicate of the broken contact or something similar to get me mobile in the short term. As you can see in the first photo, the central or main contact is missing and I am just wondering if anybody is able to supply a picture or sketch of how the missing broken contact actually looks?

3rd Question. By manipulating the existing contacts in the blinker assembly I am able to get the blinkers to work, the front blinkers that is, the rear blinkers aren't working for some reason. Am I missing something here? Is there a logical explanation as to why the rear blinkers wouldn't be working?

Thanks guys, any assistance is greatly appreciated.

It looks like LC Torana. From memory HK-HG Holden is the same.
I've got one stashed away as a spare for my car and could get some pics for you next week.
I think Rare spares also make a repair kit.

Thanks Ace but next week might be a bit late. I can probably have a new one delivered by then and I had planned on using the car this weekend on a Rod Run. I'll have a bit of a fiddle tomorrow and see what I can work out. Damn things always break at the most inconvenient time.

Well I've spent all day at it but I've managed to improvise and get the steering wheel blinker assembly working. Still only had front blinkers though, checked everything and couldn't see what the problem was. The wiring on the old FE is like a bowl of spaghetti, wires running everything, wires piggy backed off other wires, it's unbelievable.

So how did I fix the rear blinkers, I just piggy backed wires off the front blinkers, put a fuse in the 2 lines and ran the wires through the car and connected them to the rear blinkers. Not a good fix but at least everything is working now.

Yeah, First chance you get ,get rid of half that wiring its only going to be a problem down the road [when you don't have your toolbox]. Try and get back to FC wires its much easier.CHEERS
