The shifter handle on my EJ auto column is pitted and I want to re-chrome it, how do I safely remove the pivot pin?

Copied from old holden site

I've always used a 3 inch nail, the head on that is pretty much the right size for the hole. Otherwise you can get flat tipped punches, just find one that fits the hole snugly. I give the hole a squirt with WD40 too a while before doing it, after all the pin has been there a while!!

Hope that helps.
