Hi guys,
I am only new and I need a little help with my 1959 FC,
I have a set of dragways 7 x 13 they are early Holden,
My question is, before I buy tires for these rims, will they fit with 205 tires
My car is completely original.

Cheers Dean,

hello Dean, welcome to the forum. 7 x 13 Dragways will fit depending on the offset of the rims. I had these rims with 205 tyres on my stockie but used to rub on the back guards with a couple of people in the back. It would be best to put the rims on the car before you get tyres and check clearances on full lock both ways and line up outer edge of rim with the lip on the rear guards to determine if the tyres would rub. Hope this helps, Cheers, Jack

Standard rearend is not as wide as hr so try 205/60/13 they should be fine.I have 7x13 on my van they are good with 205/60 but rub with 205/65 but it is a hr front and hr rearend so rims are hr offset if it was original that shouldn't happen.

Don't waste your time, get 13x6,no probs  at all, you can run 205 on the back, wide tyres on the front are not st/box friendly, hope this helps,Gaz! Cool

  Hey Dean welcome,
i have to agree with Jack and Gaz. Offset is everything with these old girls. From scrubbing rear outer wheel arch when loaded with family and stuff for club runs to front upper wishbone clearance to damaging front guard lip when turning into driveways, this is why now days i just run 14" stock ht hg rims with white wall flappers no clearance issues and happy motoring.

cheers

Thanks everyone, that's given me plenty to think about, and I won't waste money on tires and find they are not right.

And I am sure it will not be the last time I ask for help.

Rob, no mate I am originally from Merriwa and now live in Maitland, hunter valley

The guys are right , its all about offset and profile. The original front end is narrower than the HR and the narrowest brake combination on HR is HR and as the majority of these wider 13" rims are offset for HR they could catch the lip of the arch. Get your jack, find some mates with different wheels and try them. I probably modified or restored over 200 old holdens over more than a decade at my last place of employment and have seen or built nearly every suspension, brake, steering, motor trans., combination possible and some still confuse me.

Thanks guys,
I put a rim on the front just now, it does not hit anything and looks to have the same or very close to the same clearance As the original rim, On the inside, I measured the offset an its the same as the standard rim I have on her 3-1/2"
But they look big on the girl.
The Original rims do look good on her but I have these old dragways in awesome condition, it's a same I may not be able to use them.

Again thanks guys for help Smiley

Cheers Dean
