G'day all, anyone know what a 179 HP engine would be worth, i've been offered a rusted out EH wagon for $500 but the mechanicals are the only thing not stuffed, It's supposed to have a HP engine in it though, also i need an EH sway bar which i expect is going to cost around a $100 so i was thinking maybe it might be worth getting then sell the engine to get my dough back.

Petrol, engine probably worth the $500 if it is a good runner, but 3.55 diff is also worth $100 IMHO

Thanks guys, looks like i could be buying it then i've just got to get the bonnet open and check to make sure it really is a HP engine, by the look of the rest of the car i doubt it's going to be a runner though.

Well i ended up buying it, just shows how much times have changed, a few years ago i wouldn't have even looked at something like this let alone pay $500 for it.

Shocked Shocked Not me, I'm not into EH's and i think it may be a little too far gone you never know though EH wagons are getting pretty scarce now somebody might want to take it on, maybe i should sell it to Deano he likes taking on really rusty cars Wink
Thanks again for all the advice and tips guys.

Carefully get that 179 badge off the tail gate, have a look at what the side strips go for on ebay, especially if theyre in reasonable nick. The special badges too. A 179, goes for HP blocks as well, is not worth any more than any other red motor, unless it is a good runner.
