Recently i aquired my 1st FE,a van,the body ID tells me it's a Melb car and the s/frame tells me it's SA.Am i right in thinking they just used what they had at the time because it looks orig where it's joined at the f/wall,thanks Gaz!

Would be unusual if it is original, most of the time the slack was taken up by SA plant for FE, so a lot of Melbourne assembled cars had the body made in SA. Not the other way round.

Well it doesn't happen very often,but i screwed up,Ken you were spot on,just got the car home and found everything opposite,so here goes. FE-2104-3032-A TRIM-157-684 PAINT-256-7471 RPO-333 Can you tell the prod date from this,colour looks ,green with green trim,thanks,Gaz!

Hi Gaz, Ocean Mist Green paint with a "cool green" interior trim. RPO 333 means that the tailgate window factory fitted. Ken may be able to give you a rough date via the production number but the original engine number is the more accurate. Cheers Stewy

FE vans and wagons were only manufactured in Adelaide, so there's only one sequence of numbers. That makes guess-timating a build date from them a little easier. Ken's the guru on that front.
Only the Elizabeth plant had a press big enough to make the roof panel; Fishermans Bend got one late in 1959, so there are a few FC wagons made there, but not many.
