I've seen a few other Identification Plate details posted on the site, so I thought I would try and find out the details of my vehicle.

As I read the details on the Identification Plate, they are:

FE 22584138  I think the 8 has been re-stamped and it should be an S.

Trim 4/882240

Paint 253/6258

As I work it out:

FE-Special Sedan- No. 8413- Sydney

Paint: Duco/Lacquer - Gloss Black

But the trim code really has me scratching my head, can't work that one out. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, looks like 4\ 682 A to me
682 is Fall Red which I think is common to single colour gloss black cars

Thanks Stewy, I thought it might be 'Fall Red' but the rest of the code threw me. Hopefully some one more knowledgable might know the answer. I went and rechecked the plate and it looks like a lot of the initial No's and letters have been restamped.

The trim number is 4/582 AO. The trim should be the FE special material with Fall red in the lower section and Fall red in the inserts as well. This trim only exists in black cars.
The other peculiarity with this car is the use of silver or red paint on the interior panels instead of standard black.

The AO is for Sydney cars only which apparently used a different trim supplier and therefore some subtle differences exist between Sydney cars and cars made in other states.

Thanks Ken, that explains things.

Unfortunately, the interior paint colour is now black and the seats are in the main a red colour with a black panel along the top of the seat.

But gee, it's nice to know it's history and how it started life.

Your knowledge and expertise is very much appreciated.

Hi John, history says your front seat would have looked like this one with the stitching pattern but only the single colour

This one is fall red and parchment ivory #465 or #568 or#703 or#728 or#838 or#849

Hi jwm

My FE's code are single black with fall red trim.  I know the complete history of my car as it has always been in my family and all interior panels on my car were black from the factory.  Yours may well have been too.  Smiley
