FC push button radio tin cover

Yeah I got one scott, but it doesnt quite look like it will fit what you have in photo. Mine was for a push button air chief out of an FC. What dimensions do you reckon the cover may be ?  Dave

 Hi Dave,
the measurements are 10cm high 20cm across and 6cm wide.  I also need a front fitting bracket with the two long nuts if someone can help.

No   sorry Scott we must be talking about a different bit. The bit I got is'nt that high, it covers some capacitors and some other bits attached by a cable.  Dave.

  Thanks Dave. honestly its hard to see how one would fit on it.  Others i have had, the valves were all covered up.

Hi Scott  Can you get me the model number of that radio.  It will be stamped on either the side or back of the head unit.  I looks like an Astor brand radio to me.  The unit sitting on the top is the power supply and audio output stage -(6x4 rectifier and 6AQ5 audio output).  In that era both Astor and AWA made these units separate so they could make the head unit smaller and lighter to facilitate easier in dash mounting.

I have quite a number of Astor service manuals from that era and could well have a picture of that model showing what the cover looked like as well as mounting method which was probably separate from the head unit. It would be reasonably easy to fabricate a cover for the unit if it indeed had one.

I've had a few of those radios - none have ever had a cover. Possibly there never was one.

The covers may have been removed to let them cool down better, here are a couple I have



in the forground is the bracket that holds it to the dash with the long nuts



As you can see this type were full of holes



Scott, I'm sure you could make both of the pieces you need at home with a few basic tools, if no one can help



Unfortunatly I need both of these but I can send better pics if you need them

 Keith the model number on the radio head unit is ARM00805 on the power unit it is ARM002925.

 Ken i was starting to think that too.

 Gary i've had both those types. that's why ever since i have had this one i thought there was something missing.

 Thanks  for all your input it is much appreciated.

 Anyone know where i can get the screw in aerial socket to suit the radio.
