Either way is OK in my opinion - you can advise Vic roads that the subframe has been changed and provide them with the new number - however you may have to provide proof of ownership of the new chassis and it could get messy. Far easier to cut the old one out and weld it neatly into the replacement chassis. This means the vehicle retains its original numbers.

Check your rego certificate, older cars where registered only using engine number, depending when your car was registered (reregisterd) it may not be recorded then just change it, if its recorded then as above but if you do weld in one make sure its undetectable cause its probable an offence, same as restamping an engine number.

My FC has NOS sub-frames so has no body number.

It is registered in SA on the historic system. It shows the engine no and the chasis no as N/A

The thing is,the s/frame has a chassis nmbr but it's for an FE,it just makes me feel ''dirty'' with them on my ''FC'' my vans an x/pmg so i suppose it makes sense having a matching nmbrs car.i will weld em in to be on the safe side, thanks.
