How does the grey motor hold up to long distances (as in Brisbane to Sydney trips)?

A grey motor in good condition will sit on 55-65 mph for hour after hour, no problem.  People from the Qld FE-FC Club drove their cars from Brisbane to Adelaide in 1999, so it's not like it can't be done.  The key here is good condition.  Only you can know how reliable your vehicle is, bearing in mind the motor is probably 40 years old.  If your car is so clagged out you wouldn't be game to drive it 100 miles unless you had a couple of days to make the trip, then obviously the answer to your question is no.  But otherwise?  Who can say?  Everything breaks down occasionally.
Hope that's some help,
RET

Carla, I am a member of the Qld Fe-Fc Holden Car club, and i have recently restored an Fe Business Sedan, and i am planning on driving it to Sydney next year for the Fe-Fc  Nationals.  Maybe you should try contacting the club, we are more than happy to help.  If so then i can give you a  contact number.

Carla, in the past 12 months I've driven my FC Syd-Melb-Syd and Syd-Byron-Syd without any problems at all. The engine is completely stock except for an alloy timing gear. Just don't try to push it too hard and you should be fine. Davis
