Hey all. Hoping to get some help with my application- after some info for the specification questions.

1) Manufacturers original height to the top of the roof on an 1959 FC Special sedan?

2) Manufacturers original tyre size and profile?

3) Original manufacturers wheel track- Front?

4) Original manufacturers wheel track- Rear?

5) Original manufacturers wheel rim width?

And lastly... a question pertaining to the replacement item as opposed to the original equipment:

How do i determine the offset/onset of a wheel?

Many thanks in advance.. and may your projects have progress  Smiley

There is a very good wheel offset chart on the Dragway wheels website under car products.
It can be downloaded or printed.

Can't help with much of the OE specs but I can help with the wheel offset.

First write down the wheel width (7", 8" etc), also halve it and you will have a centreline reference. (you'll need this in a minute) You can also now convert these to mm if you like, and do everything else from here on in mm to help your engineer.

Find a straight edge like a spirit level or a piece of steel about 15+ inches long.

Lay the wheel down (gently) on it's face.

Lay the straight edge across the back of the wheel and measure the distance form the underside of the straight edge to the hub mounting service of the wheel (the flat area on the back that sits against the hub when the wheel is on).

You now have the measurement of 'back space'. Write that down.

Now subtract the wheel center line from wheel backspace to get 'offset'.

If backspace is less than the wheel centerline measurment the offset is negative, and if backspace is greater than the wheel centerline measurement the offset is positive.

Now you should have either a neg or pos measurement of offset, as well as a backspace measurement.

PS. To convert from inches to mm multiply by 25.4

Hope that helps.

Hi Jason;
How are you going with your application I have just received mine back. I am a bit confused because they said that they were not happy with my tyre choice but I had checked it on a tyre size calculator and it said that my speedo would still be in cal???

I'm wondering who are you going through for your engineering report.

Regards
Neil
