Heater Tap

When I install I want to make is as inconspicuous as possible and control it from inside the cabin,  I prefer not to use the usual manual type mounted at the front of the engine.  One I saw in a HG was inline on the heater hose, however, these seem impossible to obtain.  Another possibility is to use a generic inline tap with a Bowden cable type control or one that is vacuum operated. Has anybody used a vacuum operated switch?  If so what type of vacuum control did you use.  Any thoughts?

Keith Vintage Air make a 12volt solenoid switch for heater water flow that plumbs in line and could be hidden under the dash and you could use a hidden micro switch to activate it just another option ......FC427......

I can recommend the inline "Universal 5/8" or 16mm Cable operated heater tap" (part number HA4008) from Speedy Air Spares (http://www.speedyairspares.com.au) - see p38 of the heater Guide. It is bowden cable operated, but free enough that you could feasibly hand operate it if needs be. The Speedy Air Spares guys are good to deal with. I've been running one in the FB for the last two years, very happy with it.

Thanks Harv.  That is one idea I had thought about and use an old choke cable cut to length to operate it.  I am canvassing all ideas at the moment to see what is readily available and at a reasonable price.

With no need for my choke I am using exactly what Harv has described and utilising the choke cable as my heater tap control.
