Well, my wife (girlfriend at the time) told me off for having too many cars at the time, and we've only been together 9 years, so it wasn't all that long ago.

I bought 6 in 1 year, 2 utes, 3 sedans and a wagon. And they were just the 'parts donors'. Most I ever paid was about $800 (the wagon). One of the utes I bought in Ballarat and came home with the F100 LWB tub full, the ute tub full, the ute cab full, stuff shoved in the side of the tandem and roped on..I even had stuff in the F100 cab and on the GFs lap. All for $400. Gave most of it away to mates with FEs & FCs. Guess I'm as guilty as anyone for sending a few to an early grave. I don't regret giving any of it away, but what I do regret is now sourcing parts that cost more than whole cars I bought in the past. They say hindsite is 20/20....

Bit  like selling a Genuine LC GTR with genuine xu1 sprintmasters on it for 5K

cos i liked fc,s  better i guess dad was right when he said they would be worth a lot one day.

Oh well why someone would pay that much for a car with an offset steering wheel is beyond me.

Hey Pete,
Don't feel too bad.
I once (1995) sold a (GMH verified genuine) "Zodiac Blue" LJ GTR XU1 for $7,000 (trade in value on a new BMW). Only thing was my car had the 202 triple carb motor replaced with a 308 (a previous owner was an airforce dude who liked serious speed). Personally, I (with hindsight) would have left her stock as a rock and ......Dohh! kept her!! Sad
Chris

ps. at least I still have the BM, which has been a gem

Rabbitoh, Dont feel bad mate, Me and my brother probably had close to 25 GTR'S and Xu1's that we bought and sold. Most had rust and we got good prices for them with a lick of paint. How we wish we had them today. Anyway i was moving house the other day and found the main iD tag from one of the Bathhurst LJ XU1's we scrapped. Had it hanging on a garage rafter. Must have been there for about 15 years. Wonder what this would be worth as this is the main ID tag that you need.
