With the new modification laws now in place I'm told mine will be one of the last legal 5L conversions..
Why? Do new laws not allow for it? |

My engineer pointed out the new rules. Found on qld transport web site. They are the national code of practice for all states.
The new conversion numbers are scary low . Meaning conversions done from now on are down around the 4l mark maximum.
I Invite everyone to talk to an engineer. I only got mine through because I had engaged him well over a year ago.

Shannon Just read your post regarding the steering wheel position. As I am an amputee I had a tough time changing gear as he clutch pedal was very high and I had an EH column in originally. I fitted a FB steering wheel with a deeper dish. Well done on getting that Blue Plate  I did engage my engineer over two ears ago and stayed in touch every couple of months even if it was a phone call with a query. Congrats again. I was looking back at your build .Congratulations by the way. My fc steering column tube has the cap that covers the end of a sideplate starter motor welded at the bottom to allow the steering uni to recess through the firewall enough not to bind . I did the commodore conversion 25 years ago and just used what I had in the shed . If the intermediate shaft is recessed then the bottom of the column can be lower lifting the steering wheel higher ,but I'm sure you know this by now . Cheers.

Ok everyone. .. After making the hard decision weather to detail the undercarriage, I have decided since she will be a daily driver that I will just go with a black soundproofing style coating. Whats the stuff people recommend to use??
I am looking for something that coats evenly to hide some sins.... but also looks smooth and nice when finished.

The turps based tar[sold as under body sound deadener] can be sprayed on through a kerosene type vacuum gun that screws on to litre cans[can be purchased in 4litre]. My personal preference is a rustproofing enamel like killrust in black then a black stoneguard over the top. It sprays on with the same gun as the tar but is water based and gives a smooth finish,it isolates the enamel and can be painted over with everything so if you accidently get any where you don't want then just paint over with your top coat .
