Hi all,
Is it possible to fix a wiper cable where the small ring on the wiper motor end freely slides up and down the cable?
Cheers,
Graham

If its the bit that I am thinking of...you must have broken the end off the cable.
Cut the outer case back, slip the ring over the inner cable, heat the cable and tap it flat.

Graham - it has taken me this long to work out what your problem is / was Tongue

THe small metal ring is supposed to move up and down the cable, just not come off the end.
The metal disc pulls the switch in one directio but the end of the wire pushes the switch the other way.

So your cable is not broken Grin

Hi Graham,

if you look here at the unit in Accessory of the Week

 http://fefcholden.org.au/forum/index.php/topic,7278.0.html

the fitting instructions show that the ring on the end of the cable is captive once the cable outer is clamped

So I would think as long as the ring can't fall off the end of the cable, all should be well

Gary

PS If you need to see one mounted, I can arrange to meet or send pics

Thanks Gary,
I will have another look. Maybe the distance the outer comes out from the clamp is critical as they do say 3/8". Could you take a picture of the switch stem that holds the ring, maybe mine is not all there?
Cheers,
Graham
