Fuel Issue

Hi All
Went for a drive yesterday in to see the Hot Rod Show and shine... Pictures later... All went fine and ran well. Came home and was going to just go round to a mates place. Got about 200 m and it coughed and stalled.
Fuel bowl was full. It did not pump fuel when I undid the fuel line into the carby. Took the fuel pump out and activated the pump mechanism and it pushed fuel out. ( All over my face... haven't done this stuff for a while )
Checked the line from the pump to the carby. No blockage. Checked the line from the fuel tank to the carby no blockage...
I could start it up with some fuel in the bowl.
I'm going to put it back together in a bit and see what happens
I did run the tank dry last weekend...But it ran fine after that???
It also has a different type of fuel pump than the two wagons.. There is only an in and out line.. Nothing to the vacuum advance or the manifold.

If there was a hole in the diaphragm then it wouldn't pump at all! Maybe some crap in the carby??? But it was strange that when I undid the line no fuel was pumped through???
Any ideas for trouble shooting.. I'm going there in a bout 15 mins.

Could be a sticking needle and seat. Probably a fair bet that a little shit has got in the carby as you suspect. Give a blow out and see what happens.

All sorted. Gave it a once over and she fired up. Home safe and sound now.. Lucky it didn't rain.  It does not have a fuel filter so I'm going to get one and put it on today.
Would still like to know what this fuel pump is from

Thought it was a nasco one as I have the same one but could be wrong

Hi Nick,
Your fuel pump is most likely off any old grey with electric wipers (EK/EJ) as they didn't need the vacuum pump.
If it isn't a genuine Holden or Nasco part, then it could be anyone's guess.
In the olden days there were many manufacturers of Holden compatible parts.
My memory is as grey as my motor, but I think the last fuel pump I bought was a Quinton Hazell.
Does anyone else remember them, they are probably still around?

Nick,

When you fit the fuel filter mate I would suggest you put it on the line BEFORE the fuel pump, I've seen plenty between the pump and the carb and to me you only safeguard the carb and not the pump
