Driving across the Nullarbor to the FE FC Nations in Perth, I would like to keep an eye on my Water Temperature and Oil Pressure.   Grin

Wanted to Buy.  One Water Temperature gauge and one Oil Pressure gauge. Mechanical type, Smiths or Stewart Warner (or similar) 50mm (2") black face, chrome bezel to suit a standard grey motor.

Cheers, Kevin

speco to a 2" triply water, oil, volts or water, oil amps for around $90 at auto-one (same as link)
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Speco-Oil-Temp-Amp-gauge-set-NEW-/270910992900?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f138db204
or you can buy the plate and gauges separate and get anything
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SPECO-SPORTS-GAUGE-ELECT-OIL-PRESS-WATER-TEMP-TACHO-/120562792355?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c121a37a3

at auto-one they also do a smiths lookalike on for $40-50 witch is the same as above, water, oil, amps

you could also get vdo witch are a bit cheaper and buy the holder
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-4-Gauge-set-VDO-type-Oil-Temp-Fuel-Volt-/250957951350?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a6e427176

saas also do some cheaper gauges, and look a bit better then speco, but i cant comment on quality as ive never had them
i have used speco gauges before and i still have them in one of my cars for over 7 years now

if you get individual cup expect to pay around 50 each cup

i brought autometer for mine and it was just under 1800 for 7 gauges and no cups
autometer are one of they best but range from 120-180 each + pods/holders and if you want them in metric there even more

Hi Kevin,

Sorry to hi jack the thread, I can offer you a two hole mounting plate which mounts up under the dash & steering column similar to the Smiths unit, which you can paint or have it chromed

im not saying buy thoes one's, i did read your post,
was just looking for the easiest way to show you what they were

the electric are normally a bit dearer then mechanical

you just get the plates or cups for 2 1/16 or 2 5/8
http://www.vpw.com.au/category.asp?CatID=7&SubCatID=1159&priorCatID=7
then pic your gauges
http://www.vpw.com.au/category.asp?CatID=7

speco price list
https://www.americanautos.com.au/cgi-bin/fccgi.exe?w3exec=aap.control&formname=category&newform=groups&option=125j
as you can see they are alot cheaper

Just go to rare spaire in somerton there got the 3 gauge setup in mechinal for $45 comes with bracket, gauges and everything needed to put in, don't wast your time on second hand, as you'll find you'll be let down

And if you not completely happy with what they have VPW is on the same road and autobarn is a few shop up from vpw

Thanks Darcy and thanks John253a, I took your advice.  Went to Autobarn and Repco to see what they had in mechanical gauges.  Repco has this 20% off for RACV members for Feb so got this pair there for $48.00.  Bargain!!!

And thanks Tony for the bracket,   Grin   I decided to make it in aluminium.  Hmmm ..... not sure, might paint it black later!!!!

Cheers, Kevin

You can still buy Smiths guages new.
That's what I did when updating my guages.
Tried the cheaper brands first but was never happy.

I made the bracket in 2mm aluminium to a template provided by Tony, prez of the Vic club. Yes I might paint it black or blue after the Nationals
