Ken is entirely correct.

There is no magic answer for this as each installation is unique depending on what the owner wants.  This includes which engine, engine location. gearbox, sump, exhaust routing and rear mount or front mount rack.

What most of do is strip the car including steering box, put the engine in and start to dummy up the installation.  Early Holdens require a lot more engineering then a street rod as they have small engine bays, narrow chassis rails and need extra strength in the unibody.  The only upgrade which is "reasonably" simple is a Holden red motor.

All,
Agreed....Just want an Idea on where the bloody hell to start. And possibly where other have placed theirs and where the engine ends up in relation to the fire wall and/or gap from the radiator. Just want to see others mistakes or concepts so I don't make them and potentially get it right first or second time. That and I am just plain ol curious to see!!
Oh and I have a rear mounted VT rack shortened. I am now working with an engineer on this so make her getting registered a little easier.

Maybe I should start a new thread, "pro's n con's for mounts in a certain place" to show advantages or disadvantages like too far forward the weight could be a problem or too far back and new fire wall needs to be installed etc
Cheers

nes138 I found that there was only one position for the mounts when I started my V6 conversion, I have a rear mounted V6 Conversion rack and I also use Pats sump because of the design of the sump part of it has to fit between the cross member and the rack so it pretty much positions the mounts.

I don't know what sump you are using or thinking of using but keep it in mind. As for clearance on the fire wall because of my sump and rack it fits very nicely and is not jammed against the firewall the only issue I had was the EK elec wiper motor I had hit the cable operated throttle butterfly but the VP wiper mod solves that problem beautifully.

Hope this helps.

nes138 Let me know and I will take some photos of my mounts and the V6 Conversions sump in the car if you like. The sump was not very expensive when I bought it and it fits really well.
Have you strengthened under your cross member when you fitted your rack?

Fits sweet  and sits about 25-30mm above where a red motor one does..

I have not done a rear mount rack set up yet tho but shouldnt be a problem.

I love doing what i do but i rarely get time to do my own stuff let alone others parts  with our workload at work.
