Hi Fe
Give Glen at G-Force Engines a ring,(02 49439519) Newcastle. He build my mates last year, just be seated when asking around for prices, not as cheap as you might think.

I know a few good mechanics that can put a good engine together for you

Try Gordon "hilly" at westlakes auto mechanics at rathmines 0249752270 hes a top bloke good price and knows what hes doing.

Also try Alex ross at Alex ross automotive at Abermain i live round the corner hes another really nice bloke that knows his stuff.

Do you know how far you plane to go go with it,
As wade an crow do some small duration big lift cams that work well with mid range comp and basic porting
That keeps the power down low around 2500-3500
I've go a friend running a crow (I think pno 687) 210/217@50 415 lift on a 113lc
On 7.5:1 comp and twin carby. It's easy to drive, and makes all it power down low,
Wade also do 1 ( think pno. 790) 206/219@50 420 lift 114lc
There both something around 23/65,
Both only work with manual and you'll need a converter with auto,

Hi there fe, I had my 138 fb motor in my FE wagon done up in late 2010 here in Toowoomba by a reputable Co. To give you an idea of cost I had the following done. Long motor given to them and they did 3 crack repairs to the head, 40 out to max 60 thou rebore, new pistons etc, heavy duty valve springs, ulp conversion, mild 20-60 cam, rebuild complete back onto the back of my ute $3600. I have been driving this for 9 months/5,000 miles and can sit on 105kph. The motor is an absolute peach after you get used to the clatery grey sound. All the old blokes around here with mechanical savvy say it's spot on. I added a set of extractors and a quiet muffler. It is my daily driver and my only advice is to do it proper because there's nothing cool about having a classic that you spend more time under than driving. To me this was a reasonable price for the work done. Hopefully yours doesn't need all this done but I wanted to start with a clean slate and do a lotta miles reliably. Best o' luck. Moe`t

Hi fe,

I had similar stuff done to the grey in my FE wagon in 2008, as Moe't had done, and it goes like a beauty. Cost me a little under $2000 at St Marys Engines St Marys NSW. It too is driven daily and, on the motor ways, cruises at 100klm per the hour very comfortably.

Cheers Rusty
