I am about to put a Bosch generator into my FE the previous generator was a Lucas and I want to make sure all is well before I continue.

Is the Bosch Generator compatible with the Lucas Regulator?

Why does the Bosch generator have three connections and the Lucas only have two? ( the harness only has 2 wires Blue & brown)

Is there anything I should have asked that I should know before I continue?

The Lucas regulator RB 310 has a cut-in / cut-out voltage of 12.7 / 13.3 volts whilst the Bosch regulator RS/UA 160/12/36 has voltages of 12.4 / 13.1 volts.
All other specs look reasonably similar or overlap. People have run Lucas generators with Bosch regulators and the reverse, but they do not operate properly resulting in damage to the generator usually. You can see from the figures that a Lucas regulator would supply an excess voltage to a Bosch generator which eventually cause generator failure over time.

I have quite a stock of Bosch and Lucas generators and regulators here but all are as removed from vehicles and not guaranteed unfortunately

Maybe if you were to change both the generator and the regulator so that they matched?
