The paint on the inside upper doors, was that always the same colour as the outside of doors or the interior? I have the ascot grey dash, and fall red interior, so not sure if I should paint them red or grey? Want completely original.

depends on the whether its an FE or an FC, a standard or a special and if a special, then the colour scheme of your car - ie is it a one colour car or 2 tone?

Deano, I had a car the same paint as yours, the body colour goes on the dash and the indent on the front door, the flash colour goes all over thethe inner surface of the doors and the door openings as well as the top half of the small centre section between the doors.

Thanks Jim. Is hard to tell because those greys are similar and there was some red here and there where it shouldn't be. I'll have to work out a 2 pak colour code for they greys. U don't happen to have them for 2 pak?  It was mainly the doors because I'm gunna have a crack at doing some rust patches in the coming weeks and would like to get some base coats on the inner doors. This form has been invaluable for those annoying questions. Ken is great!

Mate, good luck tring to find mixing formula the these, I had to give my guy a sample i.e. glove box lid, so they could colour match to that. You should be able to tell which grey is which by the id plate. Get the numbers from that ,body & insert and then look under the technical help site at the start of the forum, you will find the paint codes listed, if its the same as my old one it will be as follows.
PAINT:253-7773 which is ASCOT GREY
INSERT:253-5300 which is WANGARRA GREY
Hope this helps, Jim

I just had a look in the tech info, ASCOT GREY is the lighter of the two colours. So you should have light grey body and dash with dark grey flash and inner doors.

So all of the inner door including visible bits should be same as between doors. There is dark grey at top of dash too so I think the doors should be all dark grey. U can see car in build section under black and white taxi cooperative. And I'm doing the breton blue one too.

If your dash is Ascot grey, then this colour is the main body colour of the carand Ascot grey will be on the small panel on the inside of the front door as Jim has said. The flash colour (Wangarra Grey) is what the rest of the inner door is painted in including the pillars.

Neil, the dark grey on top of the dash you are talking about is a matt finish that all fe/fc's have, it also continues on the two trim plates that screw onto the front 'A' pillar. This is not the same as the Wangarra Grey on the body. The dash should have the matt dark grey on top where the ash tray is and the light Ascot Grey on the face plate where the speedo, glovebox & speaker grill go and then flows around into that small depression at the front of the door. It's a lot to take in but keep it up and you will get there in the end.

Neil, something has been bugging me about your taxi, so I had a close look at your posts in the projects and I think I found what it was. You said the car was a 58 FC but you have a 59 third style, the pictures you have posted show that the seats have the embossing in the seats and on the rh rear guard there is the fin extention. These two items would make a strong case for your car being a late 59 Special instead of a 58 and lastly I'm fairly sure that the combo of Ascot & Wangarra grey where late colour combos.

fc225-18852-a
Trim 254-847
Paint 253-7773
253-5300 insert

a bit hard cos engine is from an fj. But these are the numbers, I know the colour is correct because of Dash and interior pillars but that info is good about the other grey. I think it is a late 59 fc, I think I just said 58 for reasons I dont know, but I thought being a taxi, the embossing and later model trim doesnt mean it wasnt recovered either.

Oh and Jim, my name is Deano. I think I need to stop posting after bourbons. Doesnt help. Now that I am fully coherent, my name is Deano, I am pretty sure my FC is a 59 model (not 58) and I need to ensure I remain sober for 2 more hours to pick kids up from school, so Ill try from now on to post things that require brain effort before say 4.30pm.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
