hi

are there any bits like control arm bushes that should always be replaced on an original front end or if they look alright should i use them. also what are the obvious things to ALWAYS change even if they look ok?

On the front end if it is worn it will stand out - typical wear spots are kingpins (of course), upper outer control arm bushes and lower outer control arm bushes in that order. inner control arm bushes will only be worn out on a high mileage car or one that was not serviced properly. You need to pull the front end apart to check these things properly. The manual gives specs on amount of movement allowed.
The steering is another area for worn parts. Tie rod ends are obvious as the first place to start, but everything inside the drag link should be thoroughly checked, renewed and assembled fastidiously. Idler arm bush is another common wear spot on the steeing. If the upper control arm bolts are not worn at all, it is OK to use them because they may have been replaced recently in the car's history, but any wear (use a steel rule to check) and I would replace them.

FB EK sway bar is the same diameter but a different shape. The FB EK bar fits really well on an FC with HR front end fitted because of the different shape.

Thats handy to know for the fe, as for the fc, all of the suspension has been blasted ready for reassembly. Have bought all the bits necessary for it to go back together, minus brake and drums and the sway bar links, which Ill try to get from Bursons or repco today!
