Allright all a little help needed
My FE has been a cow from day one locking passenger front brake ?
It has new brake lines
I had honed and fitted new cups to cylinders.
I have now removed booster and it still does it.
I have just kitted the master cylinder no pitting evident.
So i now have stripped all brakes off blasted backing plates fitted new cylinders but cannot get new shoes i can only get my old ones re done but i think i have found my problem are the front shoes left and right handed as mine had the large shoe at the front on the side that locks up and the passenger side has the large shoe at the rear .
If i try to put both large shoes at the rear on the passenger side the spring on the hinge bit at the bottom hits the backing plate whats going on?

Your help is very much appreciated .

Pete, I belive both sides are the same, you should have the large(primary) liner at the front and the small (secondary) at the rear. You may want to check the spring tention to make sure it is pulling the shoes back properly.

Brakes are different L to R.
What is shown in your pic is 2 sets of L brakes.
The bigger lining with the hinge at the bottom belongs on the front.
Here's a pic of R front.

Pete

Take the hinge off (on the set where the longest shoe is at the back) and put it back on in the same hole but on the reverse side of the shoe, and reassemble with the longest shoe to the front on both sides.

I stand corrected. the shoes are the same but the link plate is on opposite sides as Wayne said. You may also want to check that the wheel cylender is flush with the backing plate when bolted up.

Thats what i thought i had 2 the same but i assumed the small would go to the front ..

Oh well now i know i will see a mate to get the RH set .
Thanks for all your help.

I have made sure shes sitting in the recess bead blasted the whole lot took all the crud off etch primed and painted with heatproof paint.
I am waiting for new bearings as the old ones some fool had done them up really tight and the grease has solidified..
Also my steering arm last time i was under there wasnt in the key way and the nut was only just on.
So whoever did this resto years ago didnt have much idea could have made for an intresting ride..

Some more help needed.

Original tins and e bay ones i bought are all shagged so i got some NOS EH ones out of the roof but they are the wrong size thread.
So my question is do they make plastic ones to suit FE FC otherwise i will have to make some .
I sized up a gravox tin and they are very similar so i could solder and sweat the threads in to them from the old tins but i want it going now.

Any suggestions.
