Apologies to the moderators if there is already a thread for these... Castlereagh Drag meeting circa 1969... And I've already gone 'Off topic' in the first post, but can't resist this chopped J.

Great photo's photo Shayne , the Ute reminds me of a fc Ute from west Sydney in the late 70's early 80's it had 3" holes drill in the inner sills, tailgate drilled also & the car was gutted of all items non essential , running a hot red six . It would lift the left hand front wheel about 2 foot of the ground when it launched,i seen it out at Castlereagh drags a few times Regards wayne

These photos were taken from the autosports.com forum. I was born in 1969 Alex, so I wasn't too handy with a camera at that stage. They are great pictures. I saw the others you posted on 'Illusion' too Alex. Great information.
The number plate on the FE is a German temporary plate. The owner of the car must have got one and decided he would make his car look a bit more exotic. Wouldn't have been legal on the road in Australia, but then again, I doubt those rear tyres saw much highway use.

Alex,
What an awesome photo! It shows how much get up and went that ute had! If you look at the rear wheels they have a good contact area at the bottom of the tyre. The front tyres have nearly no contact flex, indicating nearly all the weight of the car is over the driving wheels.
Excellent stuff!

This thing is awesome! Just noticed where he is sitting and where his hands are! I could'nt imagine what it would be like if he lost control though.

Here's a couple of pics that I took of the Brosnan and Hilton FE at Castlereagh in 1983. This car is being rebuilt with a new owner after not having raced since the mid 80's. Just missed out on buying it. Regards Alex

Alex,
I remember seeing this car race at the Canberra Strip around 1984-85. I used to have photo's of it, but am unable to find them.
It will be good to see it up and racing again one day.

Great pics Alex, even from way back then It's a shame you missed it, it looks like it went staight from the strip into hibernation, was it sold without a motor?
