Iv stripped a fibre timing gear on my fc and am in the process of removing the camshaft to replace the gear.. iv removed the engine to do other things as well . I cant seem to get the camshaft out ,, The fuel pumps been removed as has the distributor , The timing case cover has been removed and the 2 locater screws have been removed. Have I missed something , Iv put two screwdrivers in behind the gear trying to prize it out but it feels as if something else is holding it there, Do I need to undo the rockers to remove the camshaft.. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.. THANKS SLIM

Hey Slim. Loosen off the rockers and lift the pushrods out.

You will also need to remove the sideplate and there lifters.

Iv got my new alloy timing gear set for my grey engine and have the camshaft gear on the cam. I have discovered that is is an FB engine so therefore the crankshaft gear does not have the screw holes in it for removal tool used on the FE/Fc crankshaft gear.. My question is that there is a washer of some sort in front of the crankshaft gear that has no Key way for removal, do you need this washer that sits in front of and in fact covers the crankshaft gear..Is it an oil sling of some sort ,, How do i remove it to access the Crankshaft gear for removal.. Im a little bit stuck here ,, Any help greatly appreciated. SLIM

Hi Slim  Yes you need the oil sling on there , to remove if you lightly tap one end of the key in the crank you will find the other end will start to lift and you should be able to remove it with a pair of vise grips, be gentle, once the key is out the oil sling will slide off  hope that helps.      Roy
