hi

might be silly question but the cross member as part of the frame that goes across under the car from about the front muflap, what is that called? thats the one that rusts.

also if u had 50 cent piece holes in a section, it would be better to cut the whole box section out instead to that sort of width and replaceing rather than making a very small patch???

i just want to do enough to the taxi to get roadworth thats all and go whole hog on the fe. This FC is pretty ridy.

ill do the screwdrive test over that section, these rest is pretty good.

"under floor cross member"

I wouldn't cut out more than you have to.. it's a bugger of a job.

however generally a 50 cent piece is the tip of the iceberg.

here's one I prepared earlier.

Cheers

I would cut the whole thing out if you have any intentions of keeping the car for a length of time. These rust from the inside out and you will find they are VERY rusty inside compared to outside - a small patch job now will have to be redone sooner rather than later.

I was sort of thinking that cos might as well do both cars at once. Not much to do with structure of taxi compared to the country dirt road beast from up near Pimpinio. Funny how different a country car is to a city car.

Did u read Keith that I tracked down the original meter from the taxi, the deceased estate guys brother who was the second owner said he will sell it to me, speedo drive thingy and all. I hope he has the period taxi bar for inside the vehicle.

Funny how the engine bay is black in the taxi. probably the engine was replaced some time cos it was a taxi for nearly 15 years apparently. The old rego number was 118145, i have the 1969 rego slip in ex cond and others. There are even some beks sachets for when cabbies get headaches and receipts, original unused taxi stickers too with phone number to help me make even the phone number original.

This one is good cos it sahows how big Waratah Spirits/petrol were from 53-59.

Look how cheap the licence was ha ha. And this is the second car he bought. Then he bought another car, so had 3 at once. The ole FC must have been getting tired, going every day up and down Taps hill to hackham, she must have done many many miles, hence i may use to front end out of the blue one. not sure if number matches on engine to this one I scanned yet.
