have owned this fc for around 23 years. lots of travel a family,a couple of split window kombis and fifteen years later  finally some light at the end of the tunnel   new sub frame,floor pans,sills,an EH auto floor hump and minitubs   202 black motor mild cam roller rockers and a holley with tri-matic gearbox with lokar shifter and a 9 inch diff to finish off the rear. wheels are 81/2 inch convo pros with 265 tyres originally i had this car set up for a small block chev but im over that now |

To tubb the car i installed a box tubing chassis from front to back and then cut rear rails and moved them in to intergrate into the box tubing rail. I then raised the boot floor to make it flat on top of the chassis rail and then constructed a stainless fuel tank at approx 70 litres.Have kept the car registered all this time!. Have learnt a huge amount doing this car and the only good thing in taking so long is that i have had plenty of time to source spares.The sub frame was a new old stock but it has no chassis/vin no stamped on it.  will take a few more photos of the tubbs when i get the chance.  thanks for the kind words kingy. |

Sounds great i am at the tubbing stage its on the rotissere i have installed new tunnel ect but i am running a 4 link again i had one in it before i stripped it but am changing coil spring rate and newer shock.
i am running a VN diff chopped down with billet axles.
I am confident with doing everything except tubbs.

Its just doing that first cut. Hold the breath, pick up the angle grinder, pass the stubby to a mate, and say, here hold this and watch this for skill..... Seriously, with what you have demonstrated on the forum, I am quite sure that you have the ability to do the work. I have found that no matter what project I start it is always the same. As you say it just that first cut...... Measure twice, or even three times, cut once, saves a lot of welding Good luck with it. Keith |

This sort of shit is inspirational guys, I am just about to take to my barn find FE with a spanner (and perhaps some more brutal apparel) very soon. What do people think of making up or using a full chassis if upgrading to a strong motor rather than putting in CRS type bracing?
