I've watched scratch plates go for big money many times, and then every time another set, or even a partial set comes onto Ebay, off they go again.  I can't work out where the demand is coming from to keep prices so consistently high.  Surely everyone with an FE or FC who is prepared to pay hundreds for scratch plates will be able to get a set and eventually the demand will dry up.  There aren't that many cars and scratch plates aren't so very rare.

My thoughts anyway.

Cheers

what a pity that Rare Spares did not continue with the development of repro scratch plates ,would have stopped the crazy prices being paid at the moment ,yes I want a set but am pinning my hopes on rare spares !   Steve . Smiley

That's right - the supplier never could make a decent copy - Not good enough that I would approve anyway

I wonder if these might be more of the ones that Ken rejected ? Hope its not like the FC dash bezels.
If they cant repo them to a reasonable standard they shouldnt bother. Just my opinion.

Cheers Stewy.

The scratch plates are listed in the Rares catalogue as "in the pipeline". When a suitable prototype is produced I will approve them

Ken

The prototypes that have been made so far could be worked to make them fit, but I believe the majority of buyers would be of the same opinion as Stewy rather than Steve. Sorry Tongue

I bought a set 2 weeks ago of Ebay, the seller mistakenly advertised them in wrong area. I stumbled across them and got a really good set for $100. That now makes 2 sets but have 3 cars, decisions decisions.

The four scratch plates that went for 800 plus had a buy it now of 350..!! I thought that was a bit steep Shocked, but then they went for a crazy 800+ lol  Roll Eyes
In order to install the scratch plates, you have to take a part the door trims right guys??...

Even if repro ones are close ish and just resemble the originals then people will still buy them until the manufacturers make them exact.
