About to fit red six in my fc,have fitted HR front end and steering linkages. The engine has came out of LC doesnt look like it will fit(sump clearance) ,the engine mounts have been re-positioned 4inchs further back than origanal HR specs. Does anybody know what sump fits ? or will i have to cut n shut my sump? also has anybody attempted shorting the steering column? Any help much appeciated. Thanks. Richard Verner

Richard,
You need an EH sump and pickup, ie from a 149 or 179 motor.  A cut and shut on the sump is technically feasible, but I would recommend trying to buy one first!
As far as the steering column is concerned, depending upon how short you want it, consider fitting an FB/EK or EJ/EH column, they are both shorter than FE/FC columns.
Hope that helps, Richard

Thanks Richard for your help, but was wondering how much shorter the steering columns where that you where describing? all i wanted to do was to shorten it about 4inchs or so to make it look a bit better with a smaller diameter steering wheel. regards,Richard

Richard,
The FB/EK columns are about 3-4" shorter than FE/FC.  The FB/EK steering wheel is dished, whereas the FE/FC one is flat, but the relative position of the steering wheel to the driver is the same.  So if you put an FE/FC wheel on an EK column, it will be 3-4" closer to the dash.
Hope that helps, RET
