Hi all,

Just finished stripping the old FC to a rusty (it's not toooo bad) rolling shell and I have a question about a switch that is located on the floorpan in between the brake and clutch pedal.

What is it?

Maybe it is the kickdown switch for an auto?  Ours is a manual so maybe it once was an auto.  Or maybe i'm completely off tha mark.

Any help appreciated

Yep, it's your high/low beam switch.  Not the most convenient place to have it, the more recent models have it to the left of the clutch pedal which is a bit easier to get to.
I had all sorts of fun the first time I was driving at night & had to simultaneously-
Turn a corner
Change gear
Apply brakes
and dip my high beam coz another car was coming at me.  I might also have been turning up the volume on the cd player, not sure and maybe texting with my free hand  Wink Tongue

It was like the proverbial octopus with a battery up his arse.

OK, thanks for that. 

Certainly seems like a strange spot to have the switch.  I'm pretty sure ours has a high/low switch on the actual headlight siwtch on the dash.  I'll have to check it out though.

im pretty sure you will find thats the nitrous oxide option.

The 1st position on the dash light switch is for the parking lights & the second is for the headlights, high beam on/off is or should be where you describe it, on the floor.

The position is not so strange when you get used to it & it leaves your hands free to swap gears and steer

We have retained the original "lemon drop" headlights in our cars, which means you can drive anywhere on high beam and not get flashed, so press & forget

I went to replace the headlights in the ambulance on the weekend and discovered that the headlights are also the park lights. It has two globes in it, one is the headlight and a smaller for the park lights. I presume this is because it was exported? All ended well though, as I was still able to buy new globes to suit even if they do look like they belong in an oven Undecided

If your car has a sunroof it could be an ejection switch.  Undecided

i have heard these switches came in specials only as a very rare option.
they could switch between the optioned radio or in built tv or telephone.
have heard of em never seen one ,just like the yeti Grin

In all seriousness, there was a floor mounted windscreen washer kit. I don't think I've ever seen one in the wild.
