More FE Numbers

Hi Guys
Stumbled across an FE ute in a back yard at Illabo NSW over chrissy.It's amazingly straight but has rotted out sills from laying on it's belly in the dirt for years. Sadly the guy had just sold it 
FE 2106 653
Trim 176/559 AS
Paint 253/7468
Chassis 7-14771? (couldn't make out the last number/letter, not even sure if it was a # or letter, as it has the small dodgey hand stamped #'s)
Couldn't get engine # sorry

Thanks Tony - appreciate your effort.
It would have an "S" at the end of the chassis number - it fits well into the Sydney data set.

Not a problem, shame I didn't have the camera with me to get a few pix.
With the AS in the trim number....I've seen AO before but never AS. Have you worked out what this means yet..just curious

AS is the ute equivalent of AO, which you will have seen on Special sedans.

The exact purpose of these codes isn't clear, since if Pagewood used a different trim supplier, the actual trim number describes both the vinyl and the model it belongs to. So the "A" flags the car as having been fitted with vinyl from the NSW supplier, but the "S" or "O" is redundant. (There are other codes, "AP", "AQ" etc for other bodystyles.)

This theory is based on the reason for similar codes used on Sydney built FJs, as documented in Don Loffler's excellent books.
