Without getting too deeply into Shed material here, I have to say I can't remember ever seeing such a spectacular own goal kicked in Federal Parliament. The blowing-up-in-your-face factor of "Utegate" would have been worthy of Wile E Coyote.

You gotta love the Adelaide papers the cartoonists seem to like sketch FC's or modified variants based off an FC. I have posted a few others here previously and this one was waiting on my keyboard when I arrived home from work.
There was some talk on the forum about grafting an FB/EK rear end on to an FC, this might inspire the creation.

Not a rear end but here's a link to an FE-C with an FB-EK roof that I spied on the FB-EK Club site Not too bad "Not too bad"....that is bloody awesome. Radiused wheel arches, 2 door. I wonder if it is EK with FE FC front/rear, or FC/E with EK roof? I need to know more. I have been mulling over a similar idea for years. Good to see someone has done it. Looking at the photo i reckon it an fc from the centre pillar foward and an ek rearward,cut and shut(i think thats illegal these days?)

Alex,
I think that the car (in the video) is an EffBeck centre with FE/FC ends. To me, that seems to be the easiest way to get a car like that, because most of the harder custom work is limited to changing the ends of the quarter panels.

I'm with with Deano, looks like a cut 'n shut to me. I agree with Alex, the result looks fabulous it loses all the heavy awkwardness of the FB/EK around the front.

I've always wondered if an FE/FC subframe would fit up to the EK. then the panels would just need to be modified to fit the EK wiper cowl area.
Also recently I was thinking you could use EK rear door tops and the appropriate drip line sections from an EK roof to make the FE FC more flowing.. It's a mod which isn't too radical IMO but would improve the look 1000%. If you took 4- 5 inches out of the bulbous crown of the FE FC it would look sweet as.
I masked up some lines on a sedan and I reckon it's very doable.

From memory the FE/FC door and FB/EK door skin is the same , IIRC the top of the door on the FB seems to flow in a gentle curve from the window post at the front of the rear door to the back of the door. The FE/FC door has a "hip" near the rear 1/4 glass I am quite happy to be corrected Keith |

The FB EK rear doors are different above the hip line and the top of the C pillar flowing into the roof is totally different on an FB EK compared to FE FC. This is definitely an FB EK from the centre pillar back.
The FE FC subframe will not bolt to the floor pan of an FB EK and wont come close on the firewall, so the car is most likely a cut & shut as suggested.

Well, my comment was regarding the FCEK in the video.
Ed... I agree 2000%, what you describe is exactly what has been rattling around in my head for years.
That "cut and shut" in the advert is not as simple as it may appear.
There is a height difference in the roofline of an FC vs EK .
Place an EK door beside an FC door and you will see the FC door frame is higher.

An FE / FC front subframe will bolt up to an FB / EK floor & rails as I have done it with the 219 Wagon, the difference comes in where the floor joins the firewall  I used an entire EK Hydra-matic front floor & rails so I could run an auto I'm surprised there aren't a few more hybrid FE - EK examples running around Cheers Gary |
