Howdy All
I was after some advice/clarification?
I have just re-furbed my 1/4 vent and I bought a rivet set from Rare Spares.
Problem is is that the rivet does not fit nicely in either the stabilized hole on the frame of the 1/4 vent nor into the smaller diameter hole on the window pane arm.
Do you have to drill these holes out to fit the rivet or is there some knack to installing the rivet and secondly, how does one crimp the rivet then once it fits nicely?
Thanks in advance!
Nick.

You may need to open up the holes a little especially after rechroming though becareful using a power drill as if it jams it could destroy the brackets.  A little file may be a better option if your not too confident with a drill.  Once all is in place you need to sit the head of the rivet down on something solid and open the other side up.  I rounded off a centre punch you dont need to hit it very hard. you can always give it another tap if you want to open it up a little more.  Having another set of hands makes life alot easier for this part of the job

                                                      Hope this helps

I use a ball bearing and a G clamp - no hitting needed

Thanks Nick, having the same issue with my rear spares kit, good friend of mine works for Betta Rubber and says there are two size's, slightly bigger one is supposed to fit the FJ 1/4, the rivets I have in the rear spares kit are .25" at the middle diameter, the rivet taken out is .225... only .025 but its enough.

We are going to compare my old kit(maybe 3-4yrs) to what they have at Betta

Cheers
