Is an engineers report required if you put a 138 cu red motor in an fe or fc in Victoria ?

A 138 is a "Grey" motor so no. Pretty sure 149 is the smallest red (and then yes) but if you going to the extent of putting a red in you may as well make it worth your time and use a 186 or 202 and put discs on.

Hey Nes, Early Torana had a "138" red motor as well

Steamman, I doubt you would need to engineer it for the new motor as there is no increase in Cubic Capacity, change engine mounts and fit new box and off you go, however if you change anything else ie put a HR front end in to improve brakes and steering you will need these engineered.

Also they put the 138 red into hq sedans and wagons that were exported to south africa, what a slug they would have been.

OOPS just went and looked it up the red in hq exports were 130 ci not 138.
must be plenty of meat in those bores to bore out.

If you weld engine mounts on the original FC front end to suit the red you can be asked for an engineers report for this part... as it is a modification ......FC427.......

As a general rule in NSW, you can fit a 138 red or 149 red under the "owner certified" rules. Anything larger than that, and you're into engineer's report territory.

Thanks for that ret, i thought that in victoria you go up to 186 before needing a report but the 202 was out.Someone may know.
