If you haven't grown up by 50, you don't have to.

I know from past experience that you must be going home covered in grinding dust, feeling itchy from grinding dust and welding burns. And you also must be snorting out some great black boogers

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy, now that definately sounds familiar Cheesy Cheesy

Pedro,

The other way you may be able to go is to cut the Y frame inner leg and make the mounting point under the floor. Re welding it to the way you need it to locate. Not sure if it will work without seeing it.

Cheers
Jason.

Just went and had a quick grovel under the car, the floor still needs to come down about 50mm and can't be changed as the inner y frame leg(what i meant when i said sub frame) is hitting right where the gearbox support cross member is, at the moment i think the best way will be to cut a piece out of the leg, shorten it and make a new mounting point on the chassis rail, I'm itching to get out there and have a play but i've still got too much other crap i have to do first.

Hey Stubbie,

The benefits of the floor are a few...
 - No seat rails to make to fit the bucket seats
 - Handbrake mechanism already to fit... no mods
 - Airbag sensor in place
 - centre console started... Need to make up to the dash
 - Gear box mount done ready to bolt in.
 - Tailshaft safety loop... Where the old 2 piece shaft mounted to the floor I now will make a safety loop.

So maybe something else to think about. The VT floor fitted a treat.  Grin

Cheers

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy, I've heard rumour that there is a rare breed of women out there somewhere that don't mind their husbands going out to the shed and in fact actually encourage them to do so so they can have some free time Shocked Shocked Cheesy Cheesy.

After a week of having to work... How rude!!! Managed to get a day at it today.

Someone once told me that the fuel cap on the van was ugly so today the utes filler had to go.

Then managed to get the Panhard Rod done late in the afternoon... Will need to be tidied up on Tuesday

Also during the day got to start on the crossmember that will hold the coil over shocks. Doesn't look like much at the moment.

So my target date may be looking like a dead duck... will see how I go...

5 weeks, that's about the build time for a car on American Hot-Rod, you've had a head start so it should be a breeze to finish with time to spare  Roll Eyes  Tongue

Jason I'm only an amatuer painter myself and I'm still learning, if you take your time and pick up a few tips there's no reason you can't do a good a job, check out Alfios black beauty on page five he gives some excellent advice, there are also other sites out there that provide help just type it into google, after seeing the quality of the work you've done so far i can't see you having too much trouble.

257 days to go!!!

Bit more done today... Spring hangers done... Floor finished.
Dummied up some pipe to replicate the length of the springs and get the angles correct.

Then used one of these to make this.

To go in here...

So thats nearly it for the floor pan...

Next finish rust spots, clearance for the coil over springs, finish subframe... so the photos wont be that interesting...
