So no-one noticed the subtle name change then lol...

Couple of days work just before the weekend, with some rubbers fro the tailgate installed and the floor for the tray finally done.

Got a sheet of 19mm marine ply with a AA finish and cut to shape then using a router to adjust for depth. Pretty happy with the result.

Fixed some wiring issues with the Air Cond, blower fan and the stereo, and nearly got the ABS working. Replaced the ABS module again after the previous 3 from the wreckers were faulty and got the code that I had been waiting for.

Code 28- Wheel Speed Sensor Frequency Error.

Initially I thought it was going to be there from the larger rear tyres giving me 23mm difference in height, but then started looking at it a bit deeper realised that I need to make a sensor ring that will send the correct information as the VT independent rear end had large sensor rings and the VS diff that I am using the rings are contained in the diff so are a lot smaller.

So here is the problem for anyone to have a crack at...

1. I need to work out the amount of pulses sent per km for the VT sensor ring with wheels measuring 235/45/17 (the largest standard commodore wheel size)
2. The amount of teeth on the VT sensor ring
3. Convert this to what I know with the VS diff which is my tyre size 285/40/17 (32 teeth x 482.43 rotations per km =15437 pulses sent/km) Front tyres are 205/50/17
4. Get 2 new sensor rings made and pressed onto the axles.
5. Hope that this is my final problem and the ABS self test positively and I have ABS.

Thats my current thinking,so maybe someone else has another way of solving the issue  Grin

Cheers
JB

I would be fitting vs front sealed hubs so its reading the same trigger points front and rear .
As it is it will be getting mixed signals thinking the ABS needs to active.
Im sure the amount of teeth wont matter just as long as its even front and rear?

I think it was just accepted as the norm.

Front wheel hubs could work, will get Dino to get a pair tomorrow as like you said will match the rear.

It just leaves the different tyre sizes and the pulse ring off the tailshaft.

I am still trying to work out how many weeks would be appropriate if I were to calculate an appropriate change of name for my builds  Undecided

I am enjoying watching the progress.

We have an active ABS!!!

Thanks Pete for the hub suggestion.

A bit of research while at work tonight and the pulse ring on the tailshaft is actually the speed sensor.

Happy days, it has been a bit of a process to sort the bugs with the ABS,

Cheers,

So here is that last photo while it is in the project car section.

The upholstery has been in full swing and will be finished by the 12th of March.

After discussions with the head of Vic Roads who deals with modifications, Victoria does not recognise the Queensland engiineering blue plate. So I have to finish the car, the put it on a truck to Brisbane. Then fly to Brissy on the 22nd, get the roadworthy and registration in Brisbane, then drive to Toowoomba from there.
After the Nationals I will then drive it home where the registration can simply be changed over to a Victorian plate as it has now been registered before. So even though everything has been done in accordance with the new Australian standards that came in recently the states are still in the dark ages. It is very frustrating, but nothing I can do.

Safe driving everyone.

It is finished!! Grin

More pictures to come after the Nationals.

So looking at the original title I only missed it by 2135 days, as by tomorrow it will have been exactly 2500 days since I first started on the car.

It is amazing to reflect back and think of how many people have been involved in this build from advice and ideas, to that of help with parts old and new.

Too many to list here but to all of you that have helped me along the way big and small I thank you, every bit of help has been appreciated.

Hopefully see a lot of you at the Nationals...

Cheers
