Deleting Heater Hoses

Hi all,

This is probably a very simple question, yet still one that I would like to know the answer to. I'm soon going to take charge of a new engine (or motor, whatever floats your boat), but I would like to delete the heater hoses. I have a big ugly heater in the car (out of a Nissan Skyline) that doesn't look great or even work, for that matter. So, I want to get rid of it. But what do I do with the heater inlet bit on the engine block?

Got a picture of it? That would certainly help as it could be any number of heater setups.

If you are fitting a red engine then there is a thread that screws into the head, simply remove the existing tap and screw a blank plug into the head. Where the heater comes off the water pump there used to be blanking caps from GMH to suit. Try your Holden dealer to see if these are still available. Alternatively a bolt into a piece of heater hose will do the trick. Another alternative is to replace the water pump and fit one that does not have the hole drilled for the heater hose.

Well, if you can't work it out, give that new motor (engine) to me and I'll fit it with the broken heater

Hi Paul,

I'm pretty sure the new engine (motor) isn't set up to run on leprechauns, Guinness or four-leaf clovers. I guess it'll just have to stay with me.

Not quite related...

On a 253 in a HT, many years ago, i used a rubber blanking off cap that you could buy, with a five cent coin under it.  The coin is about teh same size as the OD of the outlet and helped prevent blowing the rubber cover apart.
