Replacing Cowl Rubber

Could anyone advise whether it's possible to install a new cowl ventilator rubber without removing the cowl? A bit of a job if I can't as there's a Smiths heater and a radio taking up a lot of space under the dash and it's almost impossible to get to the four screws. I'd appreciate any general tips for doing this job

Every time I have done this job I took the vent out to glue the new rubber in nice and neat and then refitted the vent never tried to do it with vent still in place .....FC427.....

I'm the same as FC 427, but I've been thinking whether you could cut it and insert it then glue up the join again.

It could work I think - it's not ideal but I think it will still seal

Mine vent was out when I fitted the seal. After I glued the rubber in I sat the vent on the rubber and sat a weight bag on it to be sure it would compress.

No need to take the vent out, it will go in when opened.
No need to cut the rubber either.

Thanks everyone. I finished up removing the ventilator as some of the old seal had stuck fast on the underside nearest the screen, so could not get in there to clean it off properly. Rather than remove the radio, I found I was able to get access by removing the speaker grille.
