Ace - do you collect the tags or do you want to put it onto a project?

No I dont have 1 for sale but I do collect the tags as a bit of a hobby when they appear.
Sounds like an interesting project - stock or modified ?
Are you going to put in the pillar switch and taxi bar to make it look like a gennie 217?
My current project is a FE 217 but I have taken out the taxi rail more out of safety than anything else.
I will keep an eye open 4 u but I guess you realise that they are pretty hard to find.

Oh no - I'll bet the tag was pinched by a collector.
FC 217 is probably the second rarest car to find of all time - I have recorded only 6 in my entire collection of body numbers.

I have a definite dislike of removing tags from cars that are still restoreable.  None of the tags I have ever taken were from restoreable cars.

I'll take a punt and say FE-217 is the rarest of the standard issue type plates.  Special orders like your van's ID are in a class of their own!

cheers

Hi RET.
I agree with the "Special Order" plates Grin, but I think the FC-217 was actually rarer than the FE-217. The reason being, the FC-217 was only produced for a very short period (6 months I think??) of time before it was discontinued. That is what I have been told, but will stand corrected if KEN decrees it!!
I am keen to find out.

Yep your right FC 217 is rarer than FE 217.  The hardest ID plate to find anywhere is FE 219.  I have now got one thanks to 4 hammers spotting one on ebay and alerting me to it.
Only 5 recorded in my travels.
