here is my latest project and it's all steel with billet rear wheel. custom built frame from a kids bike and square hollow. pocket bike 49cc motor with clutch. disc brake rear, custom exhaust. billet rear wheel.   |

I had to figure out how to get the URL's off my facebook photo album. I've given up on photobucket, but I wont remove the pics I have uploaded there.
Project has been fun, and relatively cheap, made in China items and ebay make it so. Challenges aren't nearly as great as a car project, but the deadline for ready by Christmas is looming.
Last jobs are to paint, make a custom fibreglass deck and get the gear ratio right. It's has a 6.1 gear ratio currently but I plan to bump it up to about 9:1, to get some acceleration.
This is my stepson's Christmas gift, and he has no idea I've built it... lol
I was looking at it, thinking I could possibly motorise an FE lounge chair... wonder if I could gain entry to the Nats with that?
would that be a custom?

thanks Rabbitoh, I hope he likes it too..
waynos, I have a whipper snipper too, but to mount those you need to spindle mount to the wheel. (ie no clutch).
I'm thinking the weight of the chair etc, another pocket bike motor will be the go. Basically a trike frame under the lounge... weight will be an issue, as will air cooling the motor.
I'm thinking it will be the next project for sure tho.
Mark, the challenge is on, Ive just ordered a bigger rear sprocket tho, what ratio do you run on the bike? that motor looks bigger than the 47cc I've got on the scooter.

That is one nice looking way to get around. Can I be a bit awkward and say that I would try and find some nice black rubber matting to go on the ply if it was me? But there is no way I could make something like that, even if I tried. I'd be like Homer Simpson and his bbq.. Paul. |

Thanks Paul The deck is temporary, I'm planning to build a swoopy, curvy deck from fibreglass. Not sure how It will grip although your rubber pad suggestion will be useful. Stinky, I outsmarted myself and went air cooled, although check out the chain guard. It's a one-off fibreglass piece.  Cheers Ed |
