Here is an original colour ad from a 1957 Womens Weekly.

I'm not sure that an FE was ever as easy to reverse park as they would like you to believe.

Hey David
That's a cool advert.
It's 1 of a couple of colour adverts I don't have up on the wall.
If you come across another, keep me in mind.
Thanks for sharing.

Notice how the front arm rests are 'Parchment Ivory' and not 'Persian Turquoise'
1956 cars are this way, later cars have reversed the combination.
The light colour gets dirty very quickly, so the trim was changed.

you gotta keep in mind Pedro, the FC was just a stripped back, low end, price shaved, poor man's version of the (Deluxe) FE Grin Grin

Umm lets see;

The FE has a neat stylish arm rest with a padded top plastic base and a snazzy chrome trim around it.

The FC has a blob of material splashed onto the door card and the stupid things wear out so quickly its almost impossible to find a good one on the driver's side.

Jury's in - The FE is far classier  Grin Grin Grin Grin

Ah, but the FC has snazzy chrome trim around the whole car, not just an arm rest, so that wouldn't that make it the classier one Wink Grin Grin

Feeling a bit stupid now though, I threw away a few of those arm rests thinking they were off a later model Roll Eyes Embarrassed Embarrassed

Pedro, I quite like the exterior trim on the FC and I think it was a nice improvement over the FE's rather plain 2 tone treatment, but the interior of an FE is so far superior to the FC it's not funny.
I've already mentioned the arm rests, some others are;
Check out the way the metal above the door trim is shaped so that it extends down into the trim - it looks magnificent in the pic at the start of this thread. On an FC the sculptured metal leads into nothing more than just plain trim. Embarrassed
The 2 tone FE seats with their scalloped inserts are such a treat compared to the boring FC seats. Tongue
The FC has half a horn ring - come on, this suggests it is only half the car the FE is.
The steering support bracket is chromed - yes real chrome. Shocked
There is carpet in an FE - yes real carpet. Shocked
The dash is painted 2 tone to match the car.
The seat surrounds are colour coded to the seats on an FE.
Even the back of the mirror is colour coded to the car on an FE.

I could go on but I feel I have raised enough points here to convince even the hardest supporter of the FC that their prejudice is in vain, and that they should climb back on board with the FE - the greatest GMH product of all time - In fact the only thing missing from the movie "Australia" was Nicole and Hugh leaving on their honeymoon in an FE Shocked Shocked Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I thought that's what FC stood for....Far Classier... Huh Grin.Anyway,I like em both although I don't have an FE.The guys at modern motor have a bit to say on your ideas though Ken."the dashboard grill,now with vertical instead of horizontal bars(may not collect so much dust),"and the half instead of full horn ring ( a good idea,that-didn't blow the thing once accidentally),"upholstery and door trims are much improved,and the new two tones are far more practical than the huge areas of white stuff used in the FE"...But what would they know...

Cheers,Jamie.

SHHH Lips sealed, don't tell anyone but I actually like them both too Shocked, it's fun to stir those poor deluded FE prototype drivers who actually think their cars could be superior to the mighty FC though Wink Grin Grin Grin.

Jamie, you answered your own question correctly "what would they know?"
Motoring writers - that unintelligent and self absorbed group of people who gave us such gems as the
Renault 8 - car of the year in 1963 Lips sealed
P76 - car of the year in 1973 Undecided
Camira - car of the year in 1982 Cry
Magna - car of the year in 1985 Tongue

What more can I say - motoring writers wouldn't know style or good taste if it bit them. Grin Grin Grin
