I just love the Canberra photo - I'll take the FC wagon thanks. Grin  And the FE sedan is a pretty good looking car too!

I think this is taken at the War Memorial carpark.

Cheers

This is potentially an EK, as the pic was dated 1962.
Either way it's a cool paddy wagon, and may be FC.

Thanks for sharing these they are great. Here is a pic of the same station that my FC came from. So one of these blokes was most probably the owner of my FC Taxi. That's why I am trying to track down the family so they can identify which bloke it is. I like to think I am a bit of a genealogist so kills 2 interests with same stone  Grin

Forgot to say, this is the opening day of that particular service station on Gouger Street, Adelaide. They all look very proud indeed!

That's incredible!  The pic is in the mid sixties I guess. There is still an ad up on the wall with the olympic torch used!
I wonder what car this was.

Nice spotting of the Olympic Torch, another cool aspect of the pic.
Here's a closer look.

Looks to have air intakes under the bumper.

I have had the photos below sent to me and they come with the following story:

I have been going through many old photo's on my parents farm at
Cootamundra. Dad was working at the CSIRO at the time & travelled a fair bit for
work in the old holden wagon in the photos.

Please note the one of the St Kilda Flats was taken in Narooma.

So - they are not my family photos and its not my Dad that is being referred to, but the fellow who generously shared these with me and has given permission for them to go up on the Forum.

The first 2 are at old Charnwood Homestead ACT (now suburbia).

Enjoy.

Nice pics David, thanks for posting them.
The caption for this one reads "Roy's Hire Cars Baxter House Old Northern Rd Castle Hill next to Rodney's grocery 1958"  Taken from a website about The Hills, Sydney.

I might as well post another couple of related pics while I'm at it...
Before the FC, there was the FX, this similar pic from 1953 (although it looks like Roy might have moved to new premises at some stage):

This one from same source - pic dated 1954:

Paddington 1961.  Flash looking EK - whitewalls, spats etc. Cool  The owner might have been in the bank making a repayment on the new rig.
