Hello All, A new member and recent purchaser of an FC Black and White in colour sedan i wish to have clarified or authenticated please the following: the FC was built in 1958, only a few ( number unknown) were in fact painted black and white, these were only sold in Victoria and were released in conjunction with Collingwood winning the grandfinal in the then VFL after a drought of some 5 years!( it has been a longer drought this time around!!) I find this to be too coincidental insomuch as GMH were in those days a big employer, it could be constrewd that one of the hierchy of GMH could have been a collingwood supporter with clout to pull of such a heist. Should this be proven to be in fact true, how many were coloured black and white? Having followed collingwood fc all my life it would be great to think that i have a piece of worthwhile memrobillia to compliment my remaining years of enjoyment and following of the magpies.
Whatever the outcome i will be keeping my FC in the original colours of black and white. Thanks for your time.

Cheers Norman (Magpie 1)

Norman,

Hate to break it to you, but I think there's a bit of urban myth in that story. Undecided

I only have records of 5 B&W FCs, but every one has a late '59 body number. Also, of the 5, 2 are Melbourne built, 2 Sydney and 1 Adelaide.

The codes 299 and 300, for White over Black and Black over White are at the end of the range of FC exterior trim numbers, and amongst other colour combinations introduced in late '59 as well. I don't have specifics of when colours were introduced, but others here do, and might be able to provide further detail.

Can you post ID plate and chassis details of your car?

As an aside, I did clearly recall a NSW club member from the early 90s that had a White over Black FC Special in the early '58 paint style, which contradicts what I wrote above. However, having dug out the old research form for that car, it turns out it left the factory black all over, and the white was added later.

Hope all that is some help.

cheers

Norman,

There was a bit of discussion of black and white cars a couple of years ago that may interest you.  The thread is http://fefcholden.org.au/forum/index.php/topic,9921.msg58812.html#msg58812

There are photos there and also a photo of b/w car in this thread http://fefcholden.org.au/forum/index.php/topic,8243.0.html

It will be interesting to see a photo of your car - congratulations on the purchase.

Cheers
