Who is running there battery in the boot, preferably a wagon but sedan is not much different, i am looking for the best way to run the cable without hitting the exhaust or anything, i will run majority of it inside painted pvc pipe under the car, probably with cushion clamps, i just cant work out were to route it.
 also, what did you use for a grommet, i am thinking of making a big hole and using a rocker cover grommet, no other grommets seemed to have enough rubber.
 i know a lot are against it but mercedes benz run it inside the car, i probably wont becuase again the is hassles getting it past the folding rear seat.
 i already have adequate cable and there is no sign of a weak starter even with a half dead battery that was a reject from a benz at work.

hey leon, ive got mine in the boot and am using the rocker cover grommet as you suggessted, i have my cable tucked up high along the inside of the passenger side sill with cushioned clamps.
the cable exits the boot just through the back seat support panel again with large grommet then through the floor beneath the rear seat. hopefully this will appease the registry gods Tongue Tongue. i am running a large 780 cold cranking amp calcium battery its a completely sealed unit and has no problem at all transferring juice to the starter..

even though it will be inside a timber compartment i will still be enclosing it in a battery box to keep everyone happy.

Running the battery leads in the passenger compartment is allowed provided that you use double insulated cable, the battery box if fitted in the boot has to be vented to out side the car the fact that a sealed battery is fitted does not exclude the vent as it may be changed at a later date to a normal unsealed lead acid type ......FC427......

yeah i was going to make a enclosure with a vent pipe outside, aswell as the mercedes benz batteries have a vent pipe built in, still, if i run it inside the car it is going to be a bastard to gat past the back seat being a wagon.

Leon,

I ran my cable out thru the floor (grommetted) then along the rear subframe rail, along the inner sill and up to the starter.

clamped down using air con pipe clamps.  These are cushioned clamps and you just go to pick and payless and get a heap of them.

Battery is in a box under the floor, I had to make a slight recess for the battery in the floor.

I have a couple of cars with batterries in the boot and others with them in the engine bay (or is that the motor bay?? Cheesy) and I have yet to see the advantage of the boot battery. In fact jump starting boot batteries is a bit of a pain. Why would you put it in the boot unless you had to?

my exuast is against the rails both sides, main reason for the battery in the back was to fit a supercharger in the front.

got a funny story about relocating batteries,
when i was a kid my old man went in the demo derby at liverpool speedway,
his mate convinced him to relocate the battery
first or second time he got hit, the thing shorted out
i watched him stranded ,getting smashed big time
it was hilarious ,guys were just smashin into him cause the car was still good and he wasn't moving.
i always think of this whilst contemplating moving my battery.
