Here is an interesting little advert from the Readers Digest, Jan 1958. It is a beautiful painting showing FE owners enjoying a day at the docks. What makes this interesting, is that when I showed this advert to Bob Butler from the NSW club, he asked where the rest of the ad was. I told him that was it! He said he had the full painting on another ad he found in the Womans Weekly. Turns out this little Readers Digest ad is only half the painting. Want to see the rest of the pic?

Regards
Alex

Hi Alex
You could get the full version of the painting from Trax as a tin print . I got one a few years back but unsure if you can still get it these days.
Thanks for the pic, very nice.
Cheers
Tony

Dang......I forgot about that trax tin print. Oh well, I guess you have all seen it, no surprise there!!! The conversation with Bob and the finding of the advert happened about 6 years ago. Before Trax brought it out.
Thanks for the reminder guys.

Hey Cat.
I knew there was someone out there who was interested. Lol. I will have to take a pic, as the advert is too big to scan. Stay tuned.

Here you go Cat, this one's for you.
And for those that are interested in the little details, this advert was published in the Australian Woman's Weekly on October 16 1957. (From the Bob Butler collection.)

A close up look at the cars in the other half.

Thanks Alex, that's awesome!  I wish we could still get prints like this one, and the one of the red and white FC with the ship in the background.  Geez was I born in the wrong era!

I got the full size advert from the Womens Weekly framed about six months ago and have it hanging in my office.  It is one of my favourite holden adverts for any of the models Cheesy

This is a interesting add as it was never really used much at all by dealers etc it has only become popular in later years. It is a fantastic add and it certainly shows a great line up of the models available but GMH were never keen on it and as such it was never widely used a shame as it was/is choice.

The artist, B.R.Linklater, who painted this image also painted a few other images for Holden to use on ads.
See the recently posted FC advert (45) for another example of his beautiful work.

Thanks for bumping this up and reinstaling the images, Alex.  I used to have it bookmarked until the images disappeared.  I live in hope of picking up the original Womens Weekly version of it some day - anyone out there got one they don't need any more?
That brown and beige sedan is right where it should be - in the front and on display!!!
Cheers,
David

Speaking about Linklater artwork - this one was in our auction and certainly provided some interest to art collectors out there

It is a cool painting.
Please tell us the price that it sold for, if that's ok.

I guess I can tell price since it was common knowledge at the auction - $600
